AWESOMENESS!!! TH FANDOM IS THE BEST FANDOM EVER!!! PROUD!! we owned it dude!!

Remember Billboard’s Grammy poll we told you about last week? Well, for those of you who didn’t see the updated post, it was an opinion poll, not an actual nomination poll. But, that’s beside the point because it turns out Tokio Hotel weren’t eligible for any of the categories Billboard was polling.

In each of the three categories Billboard was polling we got between 35,000 and 40,000 votes (second highest in the categories was Lady GaGa with between 4,000 and 8,000 votes). As I mentioned above, we weren’t actually eligible for any of the categories, and here are the reasons why:

  • Record of the Year: “Automatic” was on the Humanoid album, which was released in the US on October 12th, 2009. Grammy eligibility requirements state that it must have been released between Oct. 1, 2008 and August 31, 2009 to be eligible for nomination. We’re not eligible until next year’s Grammys (2011) in this category.
  • Album of the Year: Similar to above, Humanoid wasn’t released in the US until October 12th, 2009, and because eligibility requirements state it must have been released between Oct. 1, 2008 and August 31, 2009, we’re not eligible until 2011.
  • Best New Artist: Since Tokio Hotel has already released a US album (Scream in 2008), they aren’t eligible for this category.

Now that you know why we weren’t eligible in any of the categories, check out the results below, as well as Billboard’s article intro! (I cut out the rest of the artist, because it wasn’t important.)

So how did Billboard’s predictions – and our readers’ votes – stack up against the actual Grammy Awards 2010 nominees?

Aside from a bombardment from Tokio Hotel fans — who delivered nearly 40,000 votes in each of the three major categories for a band and a record that were not eligible for the 2010 Grammys — the gap between our picks, your votes and the actual nominations isn’t very large at all.
